SALT LAKE CITY–Westminster University was included in the Princeton Review's "The Best 392 Colleges" list for 2027, after a survey of over 172,000 college students nationwide. Colleges earn a spot on the list entirely based on student opinions and answers to a 98-question survey. Published annually since 1992, The Best 392 Colleges book offers students and parents an inside look at colleges from the perspectives of current students.
"The colleges we profile in The Best 392 Colleges vary by type, size, locale, and campus culture. In our opinion, each one offers an academically outstanding undergraduate education. They are truly a select group: they comprise only about 14% of America's nearly 2,800 four-year colleges," said Rob Franek, editor-in-chief at the Princeton Review and the lead author of the annual The Best 392 Colleges book.
The colleges on the list are not ranked in a single hierarchy—multiple ranking lists are included so students can find a college that best aligns with their values and goals. For 2027, Westminster University also earned recognition on the Princeton Review's "Best West" and "Green Colleges" lists. The Best West list features 79 colleges and universities from the following states: Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, that the Princeton Review editors "...consider academically outstanding and well worth consideration in your college search." To earn a place on the Green Colleges list, colleges must demonstrate environmentally responsible practices as reported by students and through a comphresensive review of the college's reported sustainability practices.
Westminster University is home to the L.S. Skaggs Integrated Wellness Center, built by Jacobson Construction, who won an ENR award for "Best Higher Education Project in the United States". The center is a net-positive energy facility with 145 photovoltaic panels that more than offset its electricity use. Other campus sustainability efforts include campus recycling, the Bike Collective, the Organic Garden, and free UTA bus passes for students, staff, and faculty. Westminster also houses the LEED Platinum-certified Meldrum Science Center, which features rain and snowmelt harvesting, energy efficiency (including solar panels), and advanced lighting controls.
All Westminster University students engage in active, hands-on, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary experiences.
