DONATE TO THE GREAT SALT LAKE INSTITUTE

Support GSLI Research and Advocacy

The Great Salt Lake Institute at Westminster University is the only institution in Utah solely dedicated to advancing research that deepens the understanding of the Great Salt Lake ecosystem. Your support is critical as we continue to identify and study areas of greatest concern, informing legislation and restoration efforts while connecting students, strategic partners, and the broader community to the lake. Thank you for helping us accomplish our mission.

Where does my support go?

Gifts to the Great Salt Lake Institute support two main areas:

The Great Salt Lake Institute: Current Priorities

Support the Great Salt Lake Institute’s current research priorities and most pressing outreach efforts. Current, sustained research is critical to understanding the challenges facing Great Salt Lake. Your gift ensures that we can continue our work to advocate most effectively for its future.

Undergraduate Student Research Endowment

Undergraduate students at Westminster University have unique opportunities to be involved in GSLI research, gaining valuable skills as scientists and building a lifelong connection to the landscape we call home. Established in 2026 by Mark Coolidge, a dedicated advocate for saline lakes, GSLI’s Undergraduate Student Research Endowment provides permanent, invested support to advance student-led inquiry, expand experiential learning opportunities, and support research activities that contribute to the understanding, preservation, and sustainability of the Great Salt Lake ecosystem.
