REQUEST A classroom PRESENTATION OR WORKSHOP

Several areas of campus have found success in including career assignments in classes. Assignments may or may not involve meeting with the Career Center. Some career-ready assignments are:

  • LinkedIn Profile Review
    • Job seekers with a current, comprehensive LinkedIn profile URL hyperlinked to their resume are 71 times more likely to get an interview. Meet with a career coach and utilize the provided LinkedIn resources. This assignment is for students who have not created a LinkedIn profile yet or want to improve it.
    • What you submit on Canvas: Post a screenshot of your LinkedIn profile before and after your coaching appointment.
  • Interview Prep
    • Meet with a coach in the Career Center to gain a competitive advantage on your before-during-after interview game. Your coach will help you maximize your research, troubleshoot areas of interviewing concern, review answer formulas to tough questions, what to wear, and how to navigate the "salary question."
    • What you submit on Canvas: Write a 500-word paper on what you learned and what you will do differently based on the coaching you received.
  • Networking Event or Career Development Webinar
    • Expand your network and develop your career by attending a virtual or in-person networking event, webinar, or fair. National and global opportunities are posted in Handshake, the Westminster Network group on LinkedIn, and sites like Eventbrite. Attend one of these virtual events, taking notes on the key points most significant to you.
    • What you submit on Canvas: Write a summary of the event and what you learned (include the event name and URL).

The Career Center has curated several tools for students and alumni that are available at any time.
