Leadership Opportunities at Westminster University
Gain Experience as a Community Fellow
The Community Fellows program is a collaboration with the Dumke Center for Civic Engagement that connects students with local nonprofits. The full-year program gives back to the Westminster community while providing students valuable, hands-on work experience. Fellows are paid for their work and get one-on-one and group coaching to help them grow as future leaders and professionals.

Join Speech and Debate
Participating on a debate team is one of the best ways to develop strong public speaking skills, hone your critical thinking abilities, and establish strong leadership experience. As part of the program, you'll experience a close-knit, supportive environment and develop skills you can use throughout your career.
Westminster's Speech and Debate program is designed for everyone—whether you have experience or not, and even if you plan on competing or not. You'll work closely with your coach and teammates to set personal, and team goals each year. There are two ways to get involved; by enrolling in a 1-credit class designed to help students build skills, practice strategies, and prepare for tournaments; or by simply joining the team.

Participate in Undergraduate Research
The Summer Undergraduate Research program provides an intensive research experience for students to work one-on-one with a faculty mentor. Students receive training in the research methods applicable to their specific project, employ critical analysis, and create written and oral presentations of their results. Students also receive one–on-one and group coaching on research practices and leadership development in their respective fields.
Share Your Work at the Student Showcase
The Westminster Student Showcase gives you the opportunity to share your research, skills learned through an internship, professional and clinical experiences, or field studies with the community. Students presenting at the showcase put their experiential learning on display through career readiness and a keen understanding of how to apply their knowledge to their field. The showcase recognizes the academic achievement of students who engage in high-level projects under faculty guidance, connecting their work in the classroom with the real world.
