Westminster University is hosting the National Bioethics Bowl on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

Undergraduate teams from across the country are encouraged to register for the 2025 National Bioethics Bowl at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, Utah. Uniquely, the Bioethics Bowl focuses exclusively on ethical issues in the health and biological sciences.

Registration will open soon.

Format

In January or February, registered teams, judges, and moderators will receive 15 case studies and 3 questions. Teams will research the cases and create a well-structured, logical analysis about each case.

During each round of the competition, teams receive one of the cases and one of the 3 questions, at random, from the moderator.

The first team has 10 minutes to present 1) the central moral issues of the case and 2) alternative points of view.

The second team comments on the first team's analysis for 5 minutes.

The first team responds for 5 more minutes to the second team's comments.
 
 

5

A panel of 3 judges asks the first team questions for 10 minutes.
 
 

6

The judges evaluate the first team's response and the second team's comments.
 
 

7

The round repeats the same format with the second team receiving a question about a different case.
