Westminster University is pleased to offer stipends to help support students with financial need who would like to participate in an IPSL Global Engagement summer study abroad program or the Global Citizenship in Thailand May Term Study Experience (MTSE) during Summer 2027. Selection for a stipend does not guarantee registration in any IPSL or MTSE program and recipients must apply and be accepted separately into the program. Applicants will be strongly encouraged to engage in local service projects with the Dumke Center for Civic Engagement either prior to departure, upon return, or both. Awards will be based primarily on need as determined by FAFSA and ranging from $1,000–$5,000.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the stipend, you must:

  • Be a current degree-seeking Westminster University undergraduate student in good academic and financial standing.
  • Have successfully completed at least 12 credits at Westminster by the time you participate.
  • Have no history of conduct violations, suspensions, or other serious disciplinary violations on campus.
  • Have demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA; applicants who did not file a FAFSA this year should address their financial need in question #4 of the application.
  • Be planning to enroll in the Global Citizenship in Thailand MTSE or an IPSL program for a minimum of 4 weeks starting in May, June, or July 2027.
  • COSA Programs: Complete at least 10 community service hours per week during the program and a minimum of 3 credit hours.
  • World Language Programs: Complete at least 3 credits of a world language class.

Preference is given to applicants who are not eligible for Sophomore Study Away and/or have not previously received a study away stipend.
