Westminster University is pleased to offer stipends to help support students with financial need who would like to participate in an IPSL Global Engagement summer study abroad program in Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Italy, or Vietnam during Summer 2026. Selection for a stipend does not guarantee registration in any IPSL program and recipients must apply and be accepted separately into the program. Applicants will be strongly encouraged to engage in local service projects with the Dumke Center for Civic Engagement either prior to departure, upon return, or both. Awards will be based primarily on need as determined by FAFSA and ranging from $3,000–$5,000.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the IPSL stipend, you must:

  • Be a current degree-seeking Westminster University undergraduate student in good academic and financial standing.
  • Have no history of conduct violations, suspensions, or other serious disciplinary violations on campus.
  • Have demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA; applicants who did not file a FAFSA this year should address their financial need in question #4 of the application.
  • Be planning to enroll in an IPSL program in Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Italy, or Vietnam for a minimum of 4 weeks starting in May, June, or July 2026.
  • Complete at least 10 community service hours per week during the program and a minimum of 3 credit hours.

Preference is given to applicants who have not previously received a study away stipend, who show a demonstrated commitment to community engagement and will return to campus full-time for the 2026–27 academic year.

Application

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until February 27, 2026 or until all of the funds have been disbursed.
