Spring Poetry Workshops with Lance Newman

Each spring, Westminster University offers small community poetry workshops, open to both students and community members. Community members can take the workshops for free, but you must apply to be considered for admittance. The 2025 workshops will be taught by Lance Newman and meet in person on Westminster's campus from 5:30–8:20 p.m. (MT) on Tuesdays, January 21 to May 9, 2025.

To be considered for this free course, please submit 3 poems in 1 document with contact information on the poems by December 15. Preference will be given to community members in and around Salt Lake City, Utah. Participants will be notified by the end of the year.

About the Instructor

Lance Newman is a professor of creative writing and literature at Westminster University. Proverbs of Earth, his full-length poetry collection, is forthcoming from Spuyten Duyvil Press in 2025.

Anne Newman Sutton Weeks Poetry Series

The Anne Newman Sutton Weeks Poetry Series brings poets and writers to Westminster University for readings and Q&A sessions. These events are free for all to attend and are held at the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business Auditorium. Following each reading, there will be a reception and book signing.
