First-year resident move-in is Saturday, August 17, 2024, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Check-in for all residents is centralized in Shaw Student Center. Upon arrival to campus, residents will proceed directly to Shaw Student Center. There will be several stations at check-in, resident will need to make sure they receive their student ID, fill out a health screening form (TB), and sign the Housing Agreement before picking up their key. Residence Life staff will hand the resident their room key and a Room Condition Report (RCR) to be filled out after arriving to the room and before the resident begins to unload their belongings. Once the resident has received their room key, they may proceed to their designated unloading zone.

Residents moving into Carleson Hall can park in Foster/Carleson lot in any available space.

Residents moving into Hogle Hall will line their vehicles along the curb located behind the building.

When residents arrive to their building, they will unload their items immediately. Vehicles will need to be moved from the unloading zone quickly after all items have been moved. Residents can park in either the Dumke or the North Parking structures. Hogle and Carleson Hall will have volunteers available to assist with unloading. We encourage residents to bring their own move-in equipment, such as wagons or dollies, to assist with moving in. Please be aware neither building has an elevator. To make the unloading process easier, we encourage residents to write their name on personal items.

Residential Information

Any student is allowed to have a car on campus. Should you decide to bring your car to campus, you must register it and pay for a parking permit that will allow you to park in one of the parking areas on campus.

If you are a new student, you will get your picture taken upon your arrival to campus and receive your new student ID Card. Student IDs are necessary for accessing your residence hall after move-in day and for using your meal plan. Your ID has a chip in it and acts like a debit card—you will need it each time you spend money in the campus cafeteria or coffee shop.

Do not include your room or building information in your address. All mail should be sent to:

Your Name
1840 South 1300 East
Salt Lake City, UT 84105

Since Westminster's ability to manage and store large quantities of shipped items is limited, students are discouraged from shipping items ahead of their arrival. If you are moving from a distance that prevents you from driving your items into the city, arrange to have things shipped to campus after the official move-in weekend. You are strongly advised to travel with everything you'll need for the first few days of living in the residence halls until your additional items arrive.
