Handshake

Access the Career Center team, resources, and hiring and networking events through Handshake.

  • Current students or recent graduates: If you are still using your westminsteru.edu email address, log into Handshake with your Westminster email credentials and update your profile.
  • Alumni: If you're an alumnus and no longer using a westminsteru.edu email address, contact the Career Center by phone (801.832.3103) or email (careercenter@westminsteru.edu) to have your account updated or created. Do not create a new account for yourself as it will create access issues. To gain access to the full menu of appointment types, be sure to complete your profile and select "Alumni" as your school year.

Book an Appointment with a Career Coach

Career coaches are available to you for in-person, phone, or virtual appointments. Once you've activated your Handshake account and completed your profile, log into Handshake and click Career Center, then select appointments.

Access Current Resources

The Handshake Resources Library is open 24/7. Log into Handshake, click Career Center, then select Resources. The library is stocked with current tools to help you with:

  • Your job search
  • LinkedIn profile
  • Resume
  • Cover Letter

CareerShift

CareerShift is the newest tool available to Westminster students and alumni to help manage your job and internship searches, access networking contact information, and search which employers are currently hiring. Access this members-only platform for free—the Westminster Career Center has already paid for your membership.

  • Go to the CareerShift website
  • Select "Sign Up Now"
  • Complete the required questions to set up your account (use a Westminster or personal email)

Fine-tune your interview skills using StandOut, a mock video interviewing platform, by recording yourself practicing the most common interview questions. Play it back for yourself or submit your video to a career coach for feedback.

  • If you're a current student, a StandOut invitation email was sent to your westminsteru.edu address with access instructions for your account. Email careercenter@westminsteru.edu to have your invite resent if you cannot locate it.
  • If you're an alumnus, email careercenter@westminsteru.edu with your full name, your graduation year, and the email address you'd like attached to your account. The Career Center will create your account and you'll receive an invitation email from StandOut.

Considering a graduate degree?

If you completed (or will complete) your undergraduate degree at Westminster and apply to a graduate program at Westminster, you'll automatically be considered for the Westminster Alumni Scholarship, valued up to $6,000. Recipients must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (4 for MBA summer term). Students entering the Doctor of Nursing Practice or Doctor of Nursing Practice - Nurse Anesthesia programs are not eligible for this scholarship.
