Stipends are available to support students with financial need who want to participate in a  semester- or year-long study abroad program. Receiving a stipend does not guarantee registration in any study abroad program. Recipients must also apply and be accepted into a study abroad program.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Engaging the World Study Abroad Stipend, you must:

  • Be a current, degree-seeking, Westminster University undergraduate student in good academic and financial standing.
  • Have successfully completed at least one full-time semester at Westminster (at least 12 credits) at the time of application.
  • Have no history of conduct violations, suspensions, or other serious disciplinary violations on campus.
  • Have demonstrated financial need as determined by FAFSA; applicants who did not file a FAFSA for the current year should describe their financial need on the stipend application.
  • Be planning to enroll in a Westminster-approved study abroad program for Fall or Spring Semester, or for an academic year (Fall and Spring Semester).
  • Maintain full-time enrollment (at least 12 credits) during the study abroad semester.

Awards and Selection Criteria

Applicants and award amounts are determined by the Office for Global Engagement and the Financial Aid Office. Selections will be made based on academic merit, financial need, and connection between the program and career or academic goals.

Preference is given to applicants who have not previously studied abroad or received a study abroad stipend.
