SALT LAKE CITY–Westminster University professor and director of Great Salt Lake Institute, Dr. Bonnie Baxter, published research in Applied and Environmental Microbiology. Titled "Microbial community dynamics during historic drought and flood in Great Salt Lake", the study examines how human-caused floods and droughts have challenged the population of microbial life in Great Salt Lake. Dr. Baxter's work was also covered in a press release for Applied Society of Microbiology (ASM), where she stated that "the baseline data [we've] collected so far have led to actions in support of the lake and are driving conversations with state managers and policymakers."
