About
Kim Fairbourn joined the music faculty at Westminster University in 2026 and also
serves as an adjunct voice instructor at Weber State University. She has maintained
a private studio in piano and voice since 1994, bringing more than three decades of
teaching experience to her work with students of all ages and levels.
Kim holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University
of Utah and a bachelor’s degree in Music/Liberal Arts with an emphasis in choral and
vocal studies from Weber State University. She is a Nationally Certified Teacher of
Music (NCTM) in Piano through the Music Teachers National Association.
An active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, Music Teachers National
Association, Utah Music Teachers Association, and National Association of Teachers
of Singing (NATS), Kim has served in a variety of leadership positions within her
local and state organizations. Her professional interests include vocal pedagogy,
healthy and efficient vocal technique, classical singing, and developing musicianship
in singers and pianists.
As a performer, Kim most recently appeared as Ma Moss in Aaron Copland’s The Tender
Land at the University of Utah. She is also a member of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple
Square and regularly performs as a mezzo-soprano soloist throughout the Salt Lake
Valley and surrounding areas.
Kim and her husband, Todd, have six children, two daughters-in-law, and two granddaughters.
They make their home in Sandy, Utah.
