About

As Director of Student Care, Chanté Jiménez provides non-clinical case management and serves as a key resource for students navigating concerns that span academic and personal areas. In this role, Chanté helps students develop problem-solving and self-advocacy skills while connecting them with appropriate campus and community resources. Chanté oversees the Purple Basket, the on-campus food center that supports students experiencing food insecurity.

Chanté also co-chairs the Behavioral Intervention Team, and serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Intake, Support, and Advising.

Previously, Chanté served as Assistant Dean of Teacher Education in the College of Arts & Sciences at Westminster University. Before moving into higher education, she taught K-8 in the public school system as well as adult ESL classes. Her work in education has been recognized with an Exemplary Teacher Award, a Highly Effective Teaching Award, and Academic Team District Achievement Award. As committee chair, she redesigned school behavior systems and developed and implemented a comprehensive school improvement plan.

Chanté is an alum of Westminster University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in K-8 Education with minors in Spanish and English, followed by a master’s degree in Community and Organizational Leadership. Most recently, she earned a master’s degree in Natural Resource Management and Global Environmental Sustainability from Virginia Tech. Her graduate work examined climate change and initiatives through a systems-based approach, with a focus on energy, food and agriculture, transportation, materials, and water. For her capstone project, she conducted research in Mexico City and Oaxaca, Mexico, and developed and presented strategies for scaling initiatives and their impact in addressing water scarcity throughout Mexico.

Chanté holds an ESL endorsement and an Environmental Education certificate. She is a Wilderness First Responder and a Utah Master Naturalist in Desert and Night Sky.

Outside of work, Chanté loves to travel, is an avid reader, and spends as much time as possible outdoors. She also enjoys volunteering with the animals at Best Friends Animal Society.
