SALT LAKE CITY – Today, Westminster University announced the promotion of Joe Kerwin to Assistant Director of Athletics. Kerwin, who has served as the head coach of Westminster’s men’s lacrosse team for the past 9 years, will work closely with the Director of Athletics to oversee the internal management and daily operations of the Athletics department, further strengthening Westminster’s commitment to excellence in NCAA Division II athletics within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

“Joe brings a proven track record of leadership and success to this pivotal role within the Athletics department,” said Shelly Jarrard, Interim Director of Athletics. “His exceptional leadership, his organizational excellence, and his ability to foster a positive team culture and environment make him a perfect fit for this role. I know his experience and valuable insights will help drive our entire athletic department to new heights."

As a member of the athletics administrative leadership team, Kerwin will have a pivotal role in strategic planning, special projects, and expanding Westminster’s athletic portfolio to enhance student enrollment.

Since taking over as head coach in 2020, Kerwin has led the Griffins to multiple Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships and served as an assistant coach from 2016 to 2020, contributing to the program’s first RMAC Championship in 2019 with an unbeaten conference record.
