About
Dr. Jessica Darnell Brazell-Brayboy became the Westminster University’s second Vice President for Student Affairs and Athletics in July 2024. During her five years at Westminster, she has served as Title IX Coordinator, Dean of Students, and Associate Dean of Students beginning in August 2001. She previously served in progressively responsible student support roles at NC State University, University of Georgia, Loyola University Chicago, and Loyola University New Orleans since 2007.
Jessica leads a team of approximately 80 professional staff members to support undergraduate, graduate, and professional students through all aspects of the student experience beyond the classroom. She oversees a broad portfolio including Athletics, Student Engagement and Belonging, Outdoor Programs, Residence Life, Campus Dining, Integrated Wellness, Student Care, Student Conduct, Campus Security, and Title IX. She and her staff support Associate Students of Westminster, registered student organizations, student affinity groups, new student orientation, basic needs, mental health and medical services, parent and family engagement, summer camps, and Commencement. Jessica and her staff partner with and support faculty and staff throughout Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business, Honors College, and Nursing & Health Sciences.
Jessica began her own college career at Mercer University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, She went on to receive a master’s degree in Higher Education & Student Affairs at Baylor University and a doctorate of philosophy in Higher Education at Loyola University Chicago. Her research and publications focused on international education partnerships in post-colonial settings as well as resipwosite, benefis mityel and solidarite in Haitian education partnerships with American universities. Jessica began her professional career in East Africa working in conflict relief.
