SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster University announced today the results from its 2024 Graduating Student Surveys, 2 comprehensive analyses of outcome data collected from undergraduate and graduate students over the past year. The survey, which collected responses from 177 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students who graduated between July 2023 and June 2024 found remarkable outcomes in student success.
For the second year in a row, 98% of undergraduates said that their Westminster degree was valuable in helping them achieve their professional goals.
Westminster alumni graduate prepared to lead in and contribute to Salt Lake City’s booming economy; 78% of undergraduates and 80% of graduates report that they are employed in a field directly related to their degree, with 75% of Westminster graduates–who come from 31 states and 18 countries–stay in Utah after they graduate.
“What we hope for every student who comes to Westminster–that they leave prepared to lead, innovate, and make an impact in their community–is clearly borne out in these results,” said Westminster University President Beth Dobkin.
Westminster University graduates also can expect an enormous return on investment when comparing the cost of attending Westminster with their potential future earnings. A recent New York Times study found that Westminster University ranks first among all Utah colleges and universities for economic mobility: students from the lowest fifth of household incomes have the highest chance to move to the highest fifth of household incomes with the help of their Westminster degree.
Other highlights from the Graduating Student Survey include:
- 88% of graduates report that they are either employed full-time, continuing their education, serving in the military, or participating in a service program.
- 77% of graduates report that their Westminster experience greatly contributed to their communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills–all contributing to their career confidence.
These impressive student outcomes will be on display on May 2 at Westminster University’s Sesquicentennial Student Showcase, where students will share their research findings, arts performances, and other capstone projects. This event, which is free and open to the public, will also feature a keynote from creative strategist and Westminster alumna Molly Mazzolini.
