Support Community Impact
Westminster's programs and community events foster intellectual engagement and community dialogue. Community programs, like low-cost tax preparation and mental health services, create meaningful impact by supporting both student learning and community needs.
The Westminster Center for Financial Wellness
The mission of the Westminster Center for Financial Wellness is to improve financial well-being, increase financial literacy and preparedness, strengthen small businesses and non-profit ecosystems, and improve outcomes for start-ups and entrepreneurs overcoming cultural and economic barriers to success.
While the focus begins with students, staff, and faculty, it also provides for needs throughout the community, with a special focus on low-income, minority, female-led, underrepresented, and otherwise marginalized groups.
VITA Tax Clinic
Westminster’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation, electronic filing, and financial advocacy and stability services to members of the community, including low- to moderate-income individuals and families, persons with disabilities, the elderly, members of military services, veterans, members of Native American tribes, and limited English proficiency taxpayers.
Community Clinic and Training Center
The Westminster Community Clinic and Training Center focuses on improving lives of the community by providing free mental health counseling and treatment to those most in need.
Clinic counselors are graduate students in Westminster's Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and are skilled at treating mental health issues. Counselors also work under the supervision of faculty or a licensed mental health provider.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Westminster’s DEI initiatives further a commitment to social justice and equity as fundamental components of the Westminster experience, helping to create spaces on campus where every member is seen, respected, and included.
Your gift to Westminster’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts help ensure the campus is a place where every student can think critically, explore ideas, and create meaningful experiences.
Great Salt Lake Institute (GSLI)
The mission of Westminster’s Great Salt Lake Institute (GSLI) is to connect people to Great Salt Lake through research and education. The Institute studies many aspects of Great Salt Lake systems, such as the brine flies and the microbialites that feed them, the 10 million migratory birds that visit the lake annually, and the shoreline plants and the microbes that live among their roots.
GSLI provides valuable undergraduate research opportunities for Westminster students, who gain hands-on experience while contributing to understanding the changing lake and its impact on environmental systems and Salt Lake City residents.
The Purple Basket
The Purple Basket addresses the impact of food insecurity and disparities in access to basic needs among Westminster students. At the Purple Basket, students can access a variety of foods, as well as hygiene and household items, in a dignified and destigmatized environment.
Gifts toward the Purple Basket will be used to maintain a stock of food, hygiene products, and household items. You can also donate goods on the list of most needed items or the Purple Basket’s Amazon wish list.
Walkways to Westminster
Walkways to Westminster is a college access program for youth involved with Promise South Salt Lake, a city initiative to provide dynamic, specialized community and out-of-school-time programming to K-12 students. Westminster students act as mentors to elementary, junior high, and high school students in South Salt Lake schools. Students, many of whom are first-generation college students themselves, offer their knowledge and life experience to support their mentees while expanding their perspectives and supporting their community.
Your gift benefits current Westminster students and students from the South Salt Lake community.
