Facilities
There are accessible stalls in restrooms on each floor of the facility. Both men’s and women’s locker rooms have accessible changing areas, showers, and lockers available for rent each semester and during the summer. We also have one private changing room on the south end of the locker rooms with a private toilet, shower, changing area as well as two lockers for day use only.
The weight rooms and cardio rooms have wide doors and wide aisles to make the areas ADA accessible. There is a variety of strength, fitness, and cardio equipment that is designed to be adaptable. To learn how to use specific equipment please see a Strength & Cardio Attendant at the desk in front of the weight room.
Specific Equipment and Access Areas
Sci Fit Pro 1000 Ergometer
Recumbent bikes on both cardio levels allow easy pass-through access.
Track
All members are welcome on the track with wheel chairs or other manually-powered mobility aids. Other power-driven mobility devices are not allowed on the track. (i.e Segways, etc.)
For group exercise fitness classes we will make every attempt to provide reasonable assistance to persons with disabilities.
Sports appropriate wheel chairs are allowed in the fieldhouse on the main court and the multi purpose court. Contact Traci Siriprathane (801.832.2862) for prior approval of your sports appropriate wheel chair. Your service animal is welcome. Be aware that at peak hours, the facility can be quite crowded, and you and your service animal may not be as comfortable. Check with a Fitness, Wellness, and Recreation staff member if you have any questions or need assistance.
Both the pool and hot tub have chairlifts that are ADA compliant. They can be operated by the user or if desired, with the help of the lifeguard on duty. Please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance.
Facility Access
The Fitness, Wellness, and Recreation Department is happy to provide a complimentary pass to a personal aide or interpreter if the member wants to participate in activities during open recreation but needs a personal aide to provide accessibility. The aide or interpreter first needs to complete the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center paperwork. The guest fee may be waived to allow the aide or interpreter to accompany an individual in the Center.
For accommodations for facilities, activities, and programs or if you have any questions please contact Traci Siriprathane (801.832.2862 or tsiriprathane@westminsteru.edu).
