Climbing wall instructors are responsible for ensuring safety through adherence to Westminster University.

Climbing Wall Policies and Procedures

Instructors will be required to gain competency in operating CSI software (training provided) to validate members (e.g., all participants must sign an assumption of risk form and pass the belay certification test before climbing), and manage equipment check-out. Climbing wall instructors will also instruct basic skills and safety tactics required for belaying, knot tying, and beginning climbing techniques.

Job Description

Camp counselors will serve as the primary adult responsible for youth at camp. Camp counselors will provide group leadership and supervision and transition campers from session to session. Camp counselors will be responsible for carrying out the schedule and implementing programs and experiences for campers in small and large group settings. Most importantly, camp counselors will be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants.

Job Description

The facility supervisor's job is to manage, oversee, and monitor all areas of the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center. The facility supervisor must provide excellent customer service and professionalism when working with employees and members. The facility supervisor will be familiar with the reception attendant and the strength and cardio positions. The facility supervisor will enforce policies to members and enforce employee policies to student employees and ensure the facility runs smoothly. This position will oversee safety, customer service, and procedure adherence for all facility areas while providing guidance and leadership for student staff when full-time staff is not available.

Critical to this position, group exercise instructors will incorporate knowledge and application of anatomy, kinesiology, exercise physiology, instructional techniques, and injury prevention. The background and interests on behalf of each group exercise instructor will determine the type of classes one will teach.

Job Description

The role of the intramural official is an exciting opportunity for any students who enjoy sports and working in a fast-paced social setting.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Job Description

Lifeguards will be responsible for the safety of the members using the Aquatic Center in the Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center.
 
Lifeguards will enforce pool rules and state health and safety laws, respond to emergencies, administer first aid and primary care as needed, and complete accident and injury forms.
 
Lifeguards will also be responsible for educating members about water safety and provide a safe area where members can enjoy their use of the pool and/or hot tub.

The director of the Outdoor Program is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and well-organized individual with a passion for the outdoors to assist in all aspects of running Westminster’s Outdoor Program.

  • Develop and organize events/presentations related to the outdoor industry

The role of the personal trainer is to provide quality personal training services to members to help them reach and maintain their goals of physical and mental wellness. Responsibilities in this area include:

  • Performing standardized fitness tests/assessments on member clients

Reception attendants will be critical to the smooth operation of Dolores Doré Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center policies and procedures, including issues pertaining to security.

Job Description

Swim instructors will be responsible for teaching individual and group swim instruction to the many types of members of the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center. Swim instructors will cover skills and knowledge in a logical progression for aquatic skill development. Depending on the need of the center, swim instructors should be prepared to teach adults as well as children’s learn-to-swim levels 1–6, parent and child aquatics, and water safety outreach classes.
