Dr. Peggy Cain has taught at Westminster for 25 years. Her classes integrate multiple aspects of learning and social change, emphasizing progressive ways to respond to current global crises through activism and education. Dr. Cain has led the development of several programs, including the Master of Arts in Community and Organizational Leadership, the Educational Studies major/minor, and tracks within the Master of Education. She directs and teaches in the MACOL, MEd, and Educational Studies programs. Before joining the Westminster University faculty, Dr. Cain led educational travel experiences in the southwestern United States, Mexico, and Guatemala with the Center for Global Education and Experience. She edited a weekly newspaper in Westminster, Colorado. She holds a PhD in Adult Education, an MA in Latin American Studies/Economic Development, and a BA in Communication Arts/Journalism.
Interests
Social change, adult learning in social movements and community settings, indigenous knowledge, Latin American studies, and futures thinking.
About Your Alumni Travel Leader
Dr. Peggy Cain has a master’s degree in Latin American Studies and has been learning about indigenous peoples of the Americas for more than 40 years. She lived in Colombia, Mexico, and Guatemala for 6 years and has led more than 20 May Term and graduate travel seminars for Westminster students. She teaches a graduate course in Indigenous Knowledges and Lifeways and is the Faculty Fellow for Global Learning. She loves to find delicious chocolate wherever she travels.
