About

Training

I received my B.A. in psychology and Spanish at Cornell College located in Mount Vernon, Iowa. My M.A. in counseling and guidance, and PhD in counseling psychology, were conferred from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, located in Kansas City, Missouri. Following this, I completed a doctoral clinical internship at the University of Utah University Counseling Center, where I provided therapy services to students and staff. Currently, I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Utah.

Professional Interests

Both in therapy and in teaching, I value that everyone has a unique lens through which they see the world and I strive to incorporate this multicultural perspective into my work. I maintain a research agenda examining topics including eating behavior, body image concern, masculinity, sexual objectification, and LGBT considerations. My clinical training has afforded me flexibility to support a variety of life concerns, and I have particular interest in working with clients addressing family of origin issues, oppression, relationship concerns, developmental/identity topics, eating/body image concerns, depression, and clients who identify as LGBTQ.

Professional Affiliations

I am affiliated with several professional organizations that support LGBT inclusion as well as the advancement of counseling psychology. I currently serve as the co-chair of the Bisexual Issues Committee, which is affiliated with the Society for the Psychological of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. In addition, I serve as a reviewer for the journal entitled The Psychology of Women Quarterly.

Faculty Fellow for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

I currently serve as faculty fellow for diversity, equity, and inclusion: a joint appointment with the Office of the Provost and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. As faculty fellow for diversity, equity and inclusion, I help develop and coordinates campus-wide diversity education opportunities for Westminster, in addition to supporting special programs within the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, such as the Bastian Lecture Series.

Personal Interests

I was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. On my own time, I explore the city by bike, hike trails in the area, enjoy new cuisine, travel at any chance, try out new recipes in my kitchen, and am a secret news fanatic. I also hold a private pilot's license and have a set of golf clubs: both of which have collected more dust than I'd care to admit during the past few years!
