Westminster University is committed to reducing valley air pollution, becoming a carbon-neutral institution, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The no idling policy aims to eliminate all unnecessary idling by vehicles on campus. Idling for more than 10 seconds uses more fuel than restarting your vehicle.
It is the responsibility of all who operate a gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicle on the Westminster University campus to obey the no idling policy. No gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicles will be allowed to idle on campus for more than 1 minute under normal weather conditions. The exception to normal conditions is extreme cold or hot weather. Vehicles should never be left running while unattended.
This policy applies to:
- Buses transporting students or athletes to athletic events
- Buses contracted to transport students to special university-sponsored events
- Delivery vehicles
- Contractor vehicles
- Faculty, staff, and students’ personal vehicles
- Vehicles owned by Westminster University
Vehicle operators who do not follow the no idle policy will be cited.
If you recently purchased a vehicle and only have a temporary license plate, you can purchase a parking pass with your temporary plate number. When you receive your permanent license plate, call parking services at 801.832.2526 to update your information.
